Values and Principles
We would like to recognise people with experiences of suicide, we remember those
we have lost and the impact suicide has on our families and our communities.
By recognising people with experiences of suicide it orientates us to the purpose of this work and we value and respect the individual and collective advocacy, insights, expertise and contributions that people make to creating systemic change and improving outcomes for individuals, families and communities.
The membership of NCAPES is based on the following values and principles.
Democratic Process
Members who elect their representatives, contribute as
they wish, and are listened to.
Equal Community Ownership
Everyone is free to participate.
Experience Perspectives
Gathered through continuous community consultation and not
just one individual's viewpoints.
No Barriers to Participation
Rules about 'safety','readiness' or 'risk' are not barriers to being involved or having your say.
Respect for Differences of Opinion and Alternative Perspectives
Leading to all views considered and perhaps majority views represented after consultation and consensus.
